Dementia-Friendly Community in Tung Tau
This Project is a three-year project of “Ageing-in-place – The Programme for Building a Dementia-friendly Community” (basic version). Adopting the “Community-Welfare-Business-Medical” collaborative model, the project leverages the strengths of different collaborators in the district to establish a cross-sectoral collaborative platform. Through public education and experiential activities, it enhances understanding of the needs of the elderly and their families, as well as enhancing their awareness of dementia among community members. Different mutual support groups will be organised to establish a mutual support network for the elderly, their carers and the elderly with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Community members are recruited and trained to become “Community Guardians”, to visit and support the elderly in need and their families, so as to build an elderly-friendly Community.
